Words can not express how offended I am at this advertisement.
Did women actually feed into this bull shit?
This ad says if you buy this brand of electric type writer than you will find yourself the envy of your friends and will find eternal happiness with a man.
Jesus Christ is the female sex missing a few brain cells? Why not market the typewriter as a tool of promotion? Type faster, get a raise, maybe even a promotion.  Nope not a chance this is the good ole days of America where a woman’s life goal was to find a man and settle down before 30.
Flash forward ten years from this advertisement.  Jean’s husband turned into an alcoholic who beats her and the children.  She stays with him because he makes good money as a plumber.  None of her friends are aware Jean’s private struggle, probably because they all have their own issues.
Marie is a mother of five boys and married to a man who is never around.  She is the host of various parties and quite the socialite, but her internal frustrations with her brood of children and her absentee husband; to cope she is takes zyanx.
Sandra became an alocholic with an affinity for romance novels and bon bons.  Depressed that romance in real life isn’t the way it’s depicted in the books she remained single and is frequently used as an example of how not to turn out.
After years of hiding her true feelings about women, Sally was finally able to save up enough money to move out and start over again in New York as a lesbian. She was perhaps the most successful of her office friends simply because she refused to follow traditional roles put in place by society.  Way to go Sally.
